Isac and I have been busy producing new programs for the past couple of weeks. Even after several years of writing and recording devotionals for women, this process continues to be a rewarding experience for me. Recently, I wrote a devotional that I hope will speak to women from all walks of life. It is entitled “The Purse and the Heart”. Here’s an excerpt:
A purse is a very important accessory for women, both from an aesthetic point of view and for its practical use. In it we carry personal items such as cell phones, wallets, and sometimes important documents. The heart is also a receptacle for personal things. It is in the heart where we carry and store our feelings, both good and bad. The psalmist says in Psalm 119 verse 11 that he kept the word of God in his heart so as not to sin against God. If we draw a parallel between a purse and the heart, we see that they are both important and require care. They must be kept free from unnecessary things. For the heart, that means hurts, anger, resentment, envy, pride, etc., so that it remains healthy. For a purse, that means removing anything that is needless and weighs us down. Just as the mouth speaks out of the abundance that is in a person’s heart, so we can learn a lot about a woman by looking at what she is carrying in her purse. We are often extra careful how we store our purse because we feel that the contents of our lives are in it. We forget however, that it is our hearts we are to keep with all diligence because that’s where the issues of life abide and flow – Prov.4:23.
I go on to conclude the devotional by admonishing the listener to consider what they are carrying in their lives, and that the Lord is willing and able to help them with this assessment.
The theme for the next set of devotionals will be “The Right Perspective: on God’s plans for your life; marriage and family; career; oneself; and divine promises. I believe it will be interesting and uplifting for the listeners.

Isac e eu estivemos ocupados produzindo novos programas nas últimas semanas. Mesmo depois de vários anos de escrever e gravar devocionais para as mulheres, esse processo continua sendo uma experiência gratificante para mim. Recentemente, escrevi uma devocional que creio que falará às mulheres de todas as camadas sociais. O título é “A Bolsa e o Coração”. Aqui está um trecho da mensagem:
A bolsa é um acessório muito importante para mulher, tanto do ponto de vista estético quanto ao uso prático. Nela carregamos coisas pessoais, como telefones celulares, dinheiro, e às vezes, documentos importantes. O coração também é um receptáculo para coisas pessoais. É lá que carregamos e guardamos os nossos sentimentos, bons e ruins. O salmista diz no Salmo 119 versículo 11 que guardou a palavra de Deus no coração para não pecar contra Deus. Estabelecendo um paralelo entre a bolsa e o coração, os dois são importantes e requerem cuidados. Devemos mantê-los livres de coisas desnecessárias. Para o coração isso significa mágoas, ira, ressentimentos, inveja, orgulho, etc., para que ele seja saudável. Para a bolsa, isso significa retirar tudo que for desnecessário e nos sobrecarregue. Assim como a boca fala da abundância no coração de uma pessoa, também podemos aprender muito sobre uma mulher pelo que ela está carregando na bolsa. Muitas vezes somos supercuidadosas como guardamos as nossas bolsas porque sentimos que nela está a nossa vida. Esquecemos, no entanto, que é o nosso coração que devemos manter com toda a diligência, porque é onde realmente está e procedem as saídas da vida – Provérbios 4:23.
Concluo o devocional admoestando a ouvinte a considerar o que ela está carregando em sua vida, e a assegurando que o Senhor é capaz e está disposto a ajudá-la nessa análise.
