I am working on new programs and recently recorded a devotional that deals with something all Christians have to do at one time or another. The verse in Psalms 27:14 was my inspiration, that says: “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord.” My prayer is that it will be a source of encouragement to our listeners. We all know that human beings don’t like to wait. David, the writer of this Psalm, went through the experience of waiting. Anointed King of Israel at the age of 16, he only became king at the age of 30; and while he waited for the fulfillment of the promise, he faced the envy and fury of King Saul. Waiting on the Lord is not easy and it often seems like the Lord doesn’t answer our prayers, or doesn’t understand the urgency of our situation. But the truth is that He has control of everything, and it is worth waiting on Him. Why?
First, because God gives clear and objective directions only when we are willing to wait for His instructions. This applies when we want to change jobs, choose the partner we will marry, buy a house, etc. While the world and the devil say “Why wait? Act now!”, God says in Psalm 32:8, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” Therefore, we need to wait!
Second, God uses the waiting time to synchronize us with His time. There is a time for everything, Ecclesiastes 3:1 says. When we act in His time and under His guidance, we have peace regardless of the circumstances.
Third, waiting is worth it because God uses that time to prepare us for the answer. Our decisions affect different areas and individuals connected to us.
Fourth, when we wait on the Lord, we receive the best that God has for us.
An important factor I want to emphasize about waiting on the Lord is how to wait. Not by sitting around, watching time pass; but by being active, fulfilling your current responsibilities. Along with waiting patiently, face your battles on your knees and you will always be the victor. If you are God-fearing and have submitted your life to His control, give him your battles and your struggles as well.
You, my dear Christian listener, who is waiting for the solution to your problems, or the manifestation of your dreams, how long have you been waiting? Remember that the Lord doesn’t arrive early and is never late. Wait on the Lord!

Todas nós sabemos que o ser humano não gosta de esperar. David, o escritor desse Salmo, passou pela experiência da espera. Ungido rei de Israel aos 16 anos. Ele só assumiu o reinado aos 30 anos de idade; e enquanto esperava o cumprimento da promessa, ele enfrentou a inveja e a fúria do rei Saul. Esperar no Senhor não é fácil, e muitas vezes parece que o Senhor não responde as nossas orações ou não entende a urgência da nossa situação. Mas a verdade é que Ele tem controle de tudo e vale a pena esperar Nele! Porque?
Primeiro, porque Deus dá direções claras e objetivas somente quando estamos dispostos a esperar Nele. Isto se aplica quando queremos mudar de emprego, escolher o parceiro para casar, comprar casa, etc. Enquanto o mundo e o diabo dizem “Para que esperar? Aja logo!” Deus diz no Salmo 32:8, “Instruir-te-ei, e ensinar-te-ei o caminho que deves seguir; aconselhar-te-ei, tendo-te sob a minha vista.” Então, nós devemos esperar!
Segundo, Deus usa o tempo de espera para nos colocar em sintonia com o tempo Dele. Há tempo para tudo; diz em Eclesiastes 3:1. Quando agimos no tempo Dele e sob a orientação Dele, temos paz independentemente das circunstâncias.
Terceiro, vale a pena esperar porque Deus usa o tempo de espera para nos preparar para a resposta. A nossa decisão afeta muitas áreas e pessoas ligadas a nós.
Quarto, quando esperamos no Senhor, recebemos o melhor que Deus tem para nós!
Um fator importante que quero ressaltar sobre esperar no Senhor é como esperar. Não sentado, vendo o tempo passar; mas ativamente, cumprindo as suas responsabilidades. Além de esperar pacientemente, enfrente as suas lutas de joelho e você será sempre vencedora. Se você é temente a Deus e tem a sua vida sob o controle Dele, entregue-Lhe também as suas batalhas; as suas lutas!
Você querida ouvinte, cristã, que está esperando pela solução do seu problema, ou pela realização dos seus sonhos, há quanto tempo está esperando? Lembre-se que o Senhor nunca chega antes e nunca está atrasado. Espere no Senhor!
